Leaving Foot Prints in God's Own Country

Day 01. Arrive at Mangalore Airport today morning. Assistance on arrival by our drive and continue to Neeleshwar en-route visiting the massive Bekal Fort. Bekal Fort was built by Shivappa Nayaka of Keladi in 1650 AD. The fort appears to emerge from the sea. Almost three-quarters of its exterior is in contact with water. It is among the biggest forts in Kerala and has been impeccably maintained throughout the years. It rises to 130 feet above sea level and is situated on a headland spanning 35km. Much effort has been put to develop a beautiful beach here called the Bekal Fort Beach. Drive to Neeleshwar. This hidden tropical destination, set in a secluded palm grove beside the Arabian Sea in Northern Kerala. Check into your hotel pre-booked. The rest of the day is kept free for the resort activities. Today early evening you can consult the Ayurveda Doctor at the resort and nourish your body, mind, and soul through Ayurveda massage by experts. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 02. After breakfast explore Neeleshwar. You can unwind, relax and stretch your legs with long walks on empty beaches, accompanied only by the flocks of gracefully wheeling seabirds. You can also enjoy Yoga classes with an expert in the beachside yoga hall. Visit the Theyyam ritual dances and local shrines.

 

Today afternoon you can swim in the pool or the Arabian Sea; walk on kilometres of uninhabited beach.
In the evening you take a lesson or two in traditional Keralan cooking today evening under the guidance of the hotel’s expert chef. Or you can just enjoy relaxing and doze in a comfy hammock in the dappled shade of the beautiful poolside gardens. Dinner and overnight at Neeleshwar Hermitage Resort.

Day 03. After early breakfast proceeds to Calicut. Check into your resort which has been prebooked. After a quick cup of tea, today visit The Science Planetarium at Jaffarkhan Colony is the best place to unravel the mysteries of the universe and enlightens about the planets and stars. Evening visit Kozhikode beach. The beach is easily accessible from the city and provides a good view of the setting sun. The place also has a Marine Life Aquarium open the whole day. Return to your resort. Dinner and overnight at the resort.

Day 04. After breakfast visit, Kappad is the place where Vasco da Gama set foot for the first time when he came to India on May 27, 1498. There is a small stone monument at the beach to commemorate that event. Return to your resort, Check out and later visit Pazhassirajah Museum is located on East Hill. It is run by the State Archeological Department. Ancient mural paintings, antique bronzes, old coins, models of temples, and megalithic structures are on display here. Situated next to Pazhassirajah Museum is an art gallery displaying paintings of Raja Ravi Varma.

Drive to Cheruthuruthy - A pleasant riverside township that is extremely popular due to its amazing eco gardens and lush green environment. Check into your hotel pre-booked. Day 05. After early breakfast, the driver will take you to the world-famous Kerala Kalamandalam has known widely as the University of Art & Culture of Kerala. Reach the centre by 9.00 am. {Visiting Hours are from 09.30 hrs to 12.00 hrs} Entrances $ 20 per person Kerala Kalamandalam is one of those last remaining places which still hold to the traditions and culture of Kerala. This world-renowned institution has been imparting cultural education and training to interested individuals in the various art forms of Kerala. This institute is responsible for preserving the culture of Kerala in its dance forms like Kathakali, Mohiniyaattam, and Panchavaadyam. Located in the beautiful and scenic village of Cheruthuruthy, it is the perfect place for artists to practice. Even though it is located in a rather traditional place, but Kerala Kalamandalam has been pretty open about its recruitment process. It focuses more on their merit rather than their cultural background, language, or religion.

During the tour, the Kalamandalam staff at the Center will act as your guides. They will explain to you the rich and beautiful culture that is celebrated every day in the institute. As the tour proceeds, often a couple of masters join in to interact with the tourists. You can watch the students perform striking poses complemented by their vibrant expressions. Visit the art gallery, which displays the various headgears, jewellery, and costumes that form a critical part of these classical dances. Visit the old Kalamandalam campus, which is located near the banks of Nila. Experience the lush greenery, azure skies and the smell of rain in God’s own Country, Kerala.

The rest of the day is kept free at leisure. You can also take a walk in the local markets of Cheruthuruthy.

Please note that - Kerala Kalamandalam remains’ closed on all Saturdays Sundays & public holidays. During school examination time and vacation time from March to June every year, Visit to Kerala Kalamandalam is also not possible.

Day 06. After breakfast drive to Munnar - Breathtakingly Beautiful - A haven of peace and tranquillity - the idyllic tourist destination in God's own country. Set at an altitude of 6000 ft in the Idukki district, Munnar was the favoured summer resort of the erstwhile British rulers in the colonial days. Unending expanse of tea plantations ­ pristine valleys and mountains­ exotic species of flora and fauna in its wild sanctuaries and forests ­ aroma of spice scented cool air ­ yes! This beautiful destination has all these and more. It's the place you would love to visit ­ it's the place you would wish never to leave.

Check into your hotel pre-booked. Day at leisure to enjoy the activities at the resort and do enjoy the breathtaking views of the valley. Stay at Munnar.

Day 07. After a lavish breakfast today on an early morning sightseeing tour around Munnar. The day begins with exploring the Christ Church, one of the most revered churches built in 1910 during the British era. This holy site is known for its gothic architecture style, brass plaques, and stained glass window panes. The tour continues to Eravikulam National Park, the first in the state of Kerala. It is the home to the endangered mountain goats, Nilgiri Tahr. This park is also known for the Neelakurunji flowers that bloom once every 12 years. Later reach Mattupetty. This pristine hamlet near Anamudi Peak is a visual delight. The main attractions here are the dam and the lake. This is a hotspot for vacationers where they can soak up the scenic views and enjoy the pleasant weather. Mattupetty also offers immense trekking opportunities for adventure enthusiasts. The day ends after returning to the hotel. Dinner and overnight at Munnar.

Day 08. This is kept free to walk in the markets of Munnar and do shopping. You can also enjoy Ayurveda Therapy at the resort if not keen on shopping.

Evening visits the Punarjani Traditional village to experience The World famous Kathakali dance and Kalaripayattu art from 4.00 pm to 6.00 pm. Return to your hotel for Dinner. Overnight in Munnar.

Day 09. Post early breakfast drive to Alleppey - City on the Laccadive Sea. Known for houseboat cruises along the rustic Kerala backwaters, a network of tranquil canals and lagoons. Check into your scenic resort pre-booked. The day is kept at leisure to enjoy nature.

Day 10. After breakfast set out on an enchanting backwater cruise in traditionally decorated houseboats. While cruising, let your eyes settle for the bowed-down paddy fields, local inhabitants, rustic homes, ancient churches/temples, and swaying coconut groves. Return to your hotel. Evenings are kept free for shopping. Mullakkal Market is considered to be the main market of the city. It sells a variety of things at very reasonable prices and attracts hundreds of locals and tourists each day. The market is primarily known for its gold and silver offerings. There are also several things like incense, metal utensils, handicrafts, animals, and wooden boxes available here which makes this place a favourite spot for shopping in the wedding seasons. Also, the fabulous coir products that Alleppey is famous for are available here in a huge variety, some of the reputed shops like St. Thomas Fine Arts is a shop that has a premium collection of the finest quality wooden statues, icons, and handicrafts. It has been there for many decades now creating a name for itself in national as well as international markets. Aishwarya 1 Gram Designer Jewellery is a famous jewellery shop of Alleppey that is trusted by its locals for its excellent quality and unique designs. If you want to buy some jewellery when in this picturesque city, then you must visit this place. You can find both traditional and modern jewellery designs here in a wide variety. The store offers an excellent collection of chains, lockets, necklaces, rings, and studs.

Day 11. Post leisurely breakfast today drive to Cochin Airport to catch your onward flight or back home bringing back some unforgettable memories from God's Own Country.
