Royal Grandeur of Jaipur – Forts & Palaces
After a hearty breakfast, set off to explore the Amber Fort, a magnificent 16th-century fortress nestled in the Aravalli Hills. Its imposing sandstone walls hide a wonderland of mirror-studded halls, delicate frescoes, and majestic courtyards. Don't miss the Sheesh Mahal (Chamber of Mirrors), where a single candle can light up the entire room in a glittering dance of reflections.
Later, return to the city to visit the Jantar Mantar, the royal observatory built by Maharaja Jai Singh II. A blend of science and spirituality, this UNESCO World Heritage site features the world's largest stone sundial and instruments that measure celestial movements with astonishing precision.
Continue to the City Palace, a sprawling complex that still houses the royal family. Marvel at its intricately carved doorways, Mughal and Rajput paintings, rare manuscripts, vintage weapons, and regal attire worn by kings and queens of yesteryears.

Into the Heart of the Desert – Khimsar & the Golden Dunes
After breakfast, journey deeper into Rajasthan’s rustic soul as you drive to Khimsar, a tranquil hamlet perched on the edge of the Great Thar Desert. Far from the bustle of cities, Khimsar greets you with open landscapes, golden sands, and a peaceful oasis that shimmers like a mirage in the arid surroundings.
Upon arrival, check into your pre-booked hotel—likely a converted royal heritage fort—and soak in the regal ambience. After lunch, step back in time with a visit to the Khimsar Fort, a formidable 16th-century stronghold that once guarded the desert kingdom. In 1940, a women’s wing (Zanana) transformed part of this warrior fort into a royal residence, and today, it continues to host travellers and nobility alike. From Desert Forts to Golden Sands – Khimsar to Jaisalmer via Phalodi
After a hearty breakfast at your desert retreat, your journey continues westward through the parched beauty of Rajasthan toward the fabled Golden City of Jaisalmer. En route, pause at the charming historic town of Phalodi, often referred to as the “Salt City” of Rajasthan.
Once a vital trading hub along the camel caravan routes, Phalodi flourished in the 18th century under affluent Jain merchant families who left behind an architectural legacy of richly adorned Havelis and gilded Jain temples. Marvel at the stunning Shri Parashnath Jain Temple, its golden domes and interiors gleaming with intricate work in Belgian glass and gold leaf—a spiritual gem tucked away in the Thar.
Don’t miss the Dadha Haveli, now home to Lal Niwas, a heritage hotel. Step into the Dadha Heritage Museum, a treasure trove of ancient manuscripts, coins, paintings, and bronze and copper idols collected from across India—each artifact whispering stories of devotion, trade, and artistry.

Tales of the Golden Citadel – Forts, Havelis & Desert Dreams in Jaisalmer
Begin your day with breakfast, followed by an unforgettable deep dive into Jaisalmer’s golden legacy. Towering over the Thar Desert like a giant sandcastle, the mighty Jaisalmer Fort—fondly called Sonar Quila—rises from the yellow dunes in a breathtaking display of desert grandeur.
Built in 1156 by Raja Jaisal, the fort is a living monument where homes, shops, temples, and palaces still thrive within its walls. Crafted from glowing yellow sandstone, the fort changes colour with the day—from lion-gold in the morning to honey-hued brilliance at sunset—melting almost magically into the desert around it. Enclosed within mighty ramparts and 99 bastions, it’s a maze of narrow winding lanes, ancient wells, bustling markets, and hidden courtyards. Inside, admire grand palaces, historic Jain temples, and breathtaking panoramic views from its towers.
Next, journey to the exquisite Patwaon Ki Haveli, one of Jaisalmer’s most celebrated architectural treasures. Built in the 19th century by a wealthy trading family, this haveli complex dazzles with ornate carvings, over 60 intricately sculpted balconies, frescoes, and mirror work. A fine example of
Rajasthan’s fusion of art and architecture offers insight into the opulent lifestyle of Jaisalmer’s merchant elite.
After lunch, drive to Lodurva, the ancient capital of the Bhatti Rajputs, now a serene desert ruin famed for its Jain temples and intricate stonework. Explore the magnificent Parshvanath Temple, rebuilt in 1615 with stunning carvings of lotus flowers, animals, and mythical beings.
