DAY 01

Arrival and Exploring Historic Fort Kochi

Welcome to Kerala! Upon arrival at Kochi Airport, you will be warmly received and assisted with your airport formalities. From here, proceed to your hotel, Mai House Heritage Hotel, and check in to relax and freshen up.

This afternoon, embark on a fascinating walking tour of historic Fort Kochi. Begin with the iconic Chinese Fishing Nets—huge, cantilevered fishing nets that gracefully dip toward the water like oversized hammocks. These nets have become a quintessential symbol of Fort Kochi, featured on countless postcards and photographs.

Next, visit the St. Francis CSI Church, the oldest European church in India, built in 1503. This historic site is famously known as the original burial place of the Portuguese explorer Vasco da Gama before his remains were moved to Lisbon.

Continue to the majestic Santa Cruz Basilica, renowned as one of the finest and most imposing churches in India, with stunning architecture and a serene ambiance.

In the evening, experience a unique cultural treat with a live demonstration of Kalaripayattu—Kerala’s ancient martial art, believed to be one of the oldest martial arts in the world. Witness the grace, power, and discipline of this extraordinary tradition at a local theatre.

Return to your hotel for a restful overnight stay.

DAY 02

Journey to Cheruthuruthy – Ayurveda and Serenity

After an early breakfast, begin your journey to Cheruthuruthy. For a memorable experience, consider taking the train from Cochin to Shornur, which offers scenic views and a glimpse into local life.

Cheruthuruthy is a charming riverside township known for its lush eco gardens and tranquil natural beauty. Upon arrival, check in to your pre-booked accommodation — The River Retreat, a 4-star heritage Ayurvedic resort set in the former summer palace of the Maharajas of Cochin. This serene retreat beautifully preserves its royal past, offering an atmosphere steeped in history and tranquillity.

The day is yours to unwind and rejuvenate. Enjoy personalized Ayurvedic therapies administered by skilled therapists in the calming ambiance of the palace. Let the healing touch of ancient Ayurveda restore your body and mind.

Relax and soak in the peaceful surroundings, making this a perfect day of rest and rejuvenation.

DAY 03

Explore Kerala Kalamandalam – The Heart of Kerala’s Classical Arts

After an early breakfast, your driver will take you to the world-renowned Kerala Kalamandalam, widely known as the University of Art & Culture of Kerala. Plan to arrive by 9:00 AM to make the most of your visit. (Visiting hours: 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM | Entrance fee: $20 per person)

Kerala Kalamandalam is one of the last bastions preserving the rich traditions and culture of Kerala’s performing arts. This esteemed institution has been training students in classical art forms such as Kathakali, Mohiniyattam, and Panchavadyam for decades. Nestled in the picturesque village of Cheruthuruthy, the campus offers a serene environment perfect for artistic pursuits.

During your visit, knowledgeable Kalamandalam staff will guide you through the cultural heritage celebrated here daily. You may even get a chance to interact with some of the masters, observing students perform vivid poses and expressions that tell ancient stories through dance. Explore the art gallery showcasing traditional headgear, jewelry, and costumes essential to these classical performances.

Don’t miss the old Kalamandalam campus by the tranquil banks of the Nila River — a place where lush greenery meets the refreshing scent of rain, embodying the essence of God’s Own Country, Kerala.

The remainder of the day is at your leisure. You can enjoy a peaceful walk through the local markets of Cheruthuruthy, soaking in the village’s calm charm.

DAY 04

Sacred Pilgrimage and Scenic Retreat

After an early breakfast, drive to Guruvayur, one of Kerala’s most sacred pilgrimage centers. Here, visit the Sree Krishna Temple, a revered sanctuary dedicated to Lord Vishnu in his childhood form, Balkrishna (also known as Unnikrishnan). The idol, radiant and graceful, is uniquely crafted from a rare mixture called Padala Anjanam — unlike the usual stone or metal — and is adorned with four hands carrying the conch, mace, discus, and lotus, symbolizing divine protection and blessings. The deity is also beautifully garlanded with Tulsi (holy basil) and pearls.

According to legend, the temple was established by the celestial preceptors — Guru and Vayu, the God of winds — adding to its mystical aura. Despite its simple construction, the temple’s spiritual energy draws devotees from across the country.

Please note: The temple is exclusively open to believers of the Hindu faith. Visitors may encounter long queues, but the experience inside the temple complex is profoundly rewarding !!!

After your visit, continue your journey to Athirapally, where you will check into a stunning resort overlooking the breathtaking waterfalls. Spend the rest of the day relaxing amid nature’s beauty, perhaps taking a refreshing dip in the pool. Enjoy a peaceful dinner and overnight stay at your resort.

DAY 05

Spectacular Waterfalls and Leisure

After an early breakfast, set out to admire the breathtaking Athirapally and Vazhachal Waterfalls, where the waters cascade 80 feet before merging with the Chalakudy River. These majestic falls offer an unforgettable spectacle, especially vibrant during the monsoon season when nature is at its fullest glory.

The rest of the day is at your leisure — relax and soak in the tranquil surroundings. For the adventurous, there’s an opportunity to trek down the mountain slopes to the base of the waterfalls. Though the trail can be challenging, the close-up views of the falls and the surrounding lush landscape make it well worth the effort.

Important safety note: The rocks around the falls can be slippery, and strong undercurrents during the monsoon pose risks. Please exercise caution if you decide to enter the water.

In the evening, enjoy a specially crafted 4-course dinner, thoughtfully prepared to delight your palate.

DAY 06

Journey to Alleppey – Venice of the East

After a leisurely breakfast, drive to Alleppey (Alappuzha), a charming city famed for its scenic canals, serene backwaters, sandy beaches, and tranquil lagoons. Often called the "Venice of the East," Alleppey offers a perfect blend of natural beauty and cultural richness.

Check in to your pre-booked resort, where you can unwind and enjoy the resort’s facilities at your own pace. Spend the day at leisure—perhaps take a refreshing swim, relax with a book, or simply soak in the peaceful surroundings.

As evening falls, feel free to explore the town on foot. Alleppey’s laid-back vibe, local markets, and waterfront promenades make for a delightful stroll.

DAY 07

Explore Alappuzha Beach and Karumadi

After breakfast, visit Alappuzha Beach, one of Kerala’s most beloved coastal spots. Walk along the remnants of the 160-year-old pier that once served as a bustling port gateway, now offering picturesque views of the Arabian Sea. Enjoy the refreshing sea breeze, explore nearby parks like Vijay Park, and unwind in the vibrant seaside atmosphere. Don’t miss the historic Alappuzha Lighthouse—built in 1862—which stands tall as a coastal sentinel and offers panoramic views from the top.

Later, continue to Karumadi, close to Ambalappuzha. Here you will find the famous Karumadi Kuttan, a striking black granite statue of Buddha dating back to the 9th or 10th century, showcasing exquisite ancient craftsmanship.

Return to your hotel for a relaxing evening and leisure time.

DAY 08

Houseboat Cruise and Departure

After breakfast, embark on a private houseboat cruise through Alleppey’s stunning backwaters. Glide along a labyrinth of canals, lakes, and coves, witnessing the serene daily life of local villagers. Watch fishermen, vegetable sellers, and traders navigate the waters in traditional wooden canoes, offering a unique glimpse into the vibrant coastal culture.

This peaceful 2-hour cruise promises scenic beauty and an immersive experience in Kerala’s famous backwaters.

Return to your hotel to freshen up before proceeding to Cochin Airport for your onward flight. If your flight is later in the evening, there is time for some last-minute sightseeing or shopping in Cochin.
